The Diefenbunker

C and I have been wanting to check out the Diefenbunker for a long time. Finally this rainy, quiet Saturday was the perfect time (plus we borrowed the pass from the library, so it was perfect AND free!)

We took a 1 hour guided tour, which was incredibly helpful because we knew squat about the Diefenbunker. Afterwards we spent another hour poking through the self-guided exhibits. Fascinating stuff, moreso because C and I are old enough to remember some of the cold war (there was an air raid siren on the school grounds at my middle school, but that's perhaps a story for another day). The kids enjoyed that the museum is very hands on, and they were encouraged to try dialing a rotary dial phone or pushing the keys of a manual typewriter.
