The Shoveller

Not a lot of snow on the ground today, but so nice to have a little helper willing to help clear the sidewalks....

Festive Gargoyle

A bit like I feel these days actually :) This funny fellow is welcoming people at the Parliament Pub here in Ottawa, where we went to say our goodbyes to a colleague who is moving on...

Ideas

Sitting in the dentist's waiting room, flipping through magazines, sometimes I whip out my camera to make note of an idea (or in this case an Etsy coupon code :) )

Pie

Store bought, but almost looks homemade...

Toasty warm

Fired up the pellet stove, I like it, tiny little flame keeps the family room toasty warm (which is a good thing because that room is generally quite cold).

Crafty!

Kitties needed a cat bed (because our floors are cold and our furniture is getting mighty furry), so I made one :) It's BIG, big enough for two anyway, and probably a little over-stuffed. They seem to like it anyway :)

How low can you go?

Still obsessing about falling gas prices...

Fore!

One event for this year's United Way campaign (I'm a committee member for my office) is our annual mini-putt poker rally (9 mini-putt holes, earn a card at each hole, best scores and best poker hands win).

This is my boss putting at the hole we designed this year :)

Homemade soup on a blustery day

Is there anything better than a steaming bowl of soup on a cold (almost) winter's day?

Thanks Martha!

Needing something quick to throw together for dinner we found this recipe from Martha Stewart's everyday cooking mag. We didn't have fresh angel hair pasta, but it turned out quite nummy with plain spaghetti. Definitely we'll make this one again.

Badges

Katie and I spent this afternoon sewing all of her Brownie badges to her sash. What a difference from her experience in Sparks, she's motivated to work and learn and play with this group.

Snoozing

Katie doesn't seem to understand that kitties don't necessarily want to be tucked into bed under blankies...

(They don't look like they mind too much though)

Fa-la-la-la-la

First carton of the season, mmmmmmmmm!

Fast food

Despite our best efforts to eat at home more often (both for health and financial reasons), living so far out of the city definitely increases the need for periodic fast food meals. Today C had to stay in town for a doctor's appointment, no sense us driving all the way home, then all the way back to fetch him... so an early McD's dinner followed by haircuts killed just enough time for C to finish at the clinic.

Remembering

Remembrance day is a Tuesday this year so our community (like many other rural communities in Ontario) celebrated today with a ceremony at the Legion. J-man's Beavers troop participated, laying this wreath in remembrance. He's too young to understand yet, but we will participate every year, and make sure that the memory of the great sacrifices our soldiers made lives on.

Herbie's long-lost brother

Another picture from the window of our car :) This guy just reminded me of Herbie the love bug (am I dating myself by remembering those movies?)

Easy Rider

Saw this cool bike (I thought it was a motorbike, C thinks maybe it's a real fancy scooter) driving through pea soup fog this morning.

Freaky clown (looking down on me)

We went to get our flu shots today at the local high school. Some of the ceiling tiles along the hallways are painted (I guess by students) and most are really cool... except this one. This one scares the bejeebus out of me! Can't sleep, clown will eat me...

(PS - Jonah cried like it was the end of the world when he got his shot. The rest of us scarcely noticed the needle)

They're already getting so big, 3 months old already!

Play-doh fun

Just a quiet Sunday, playing with Play-doh.

Par-tay!

Friends held a post Hallowe'en Hallowe'en party for their kids and friends. She's got a bit of a Martha Stewart bend, which means everything was way beyond imagination. I love the witches brew punch, featuring gummy worms crawling out of the ice cubes :)
